Paralegal Career Details
Kohnen & Patton is seeking a detail-oriented, highly organized Paralegal to support our firm; the majority of the work will be focused in Estate Planning and Business/Transactional with assistance in Litigation, as needed. This role requires a versatile professional who can manage competing priorities, work collaboratively with attorneys and staff across multiple practice areas, and provide high-quality legal and administrative support in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities
Estate Planning & Probate Support
- Assist with probate and trust administration, including preparation of court filings and notices.
- Organize and maintain client asset information and estate planning records.
- Prepare forms related to real estate transfer.
- Coordinate document signings and maintain estate planning document execution procedures.
- Communicate with clients regarding information gathering and status updates.
Business & Transactional Support
- Assist with entity formation and filings with the Secretary of State.
- Prepare contracts and transactional documents for attorney review.
- Maintain corporate records books and compliance calendars.
- Conduct basic legal and public records research.
- Assist with due diligence, document organization, and closing binders.
Additional Responsibilities as Needed
Litigation Support
- Draft pleadings, motions, discovery requests/responses, and correspondence.
- Manage case files from inception through trial and post-judgment.
- Coordinate and track deadlines, court dates, and statute of limitations.
- Assist with discovery, including document review, organization, and production.
- Prepare deposition summaries, trial binders, exhibits, and witness files.
- Communicate with clients, opposing counsel, court personnel, and vendors.

Qualifications
- Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree required; Paralegal Certificate preferred.
- 3+ years of paralegal experience; experience in multiple practice areas strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of court rules and filing procedures.
- Experience with probate filings and business entity formation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; familiarity with billing software.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and prioritize effectively.
- High level of professionalism and discretion with confidential information.
