Ms. Barker is a partner and a member of Kohnen & Patton’s Business Law and Transactions, Employment Law and Litigation Practice Groups. Her practice is focused on business and employment litigation and general business consultations. Ms. Barker has civil trial experience in state and federal courts in Ohio and Kentucky. She handles all areas of trial practice, including:

• Business disputes involving breach of contract, unfair competition and related matters;
• Employment litigation;
• Insurance coverage and declaratory judgment litigation;
• Personal injury and wrongful death litigation;
• Construction litigation;
• Civil RICO and fraudulent conveyance claims;
• Trade secrets, non-competition and non-solicitation claims; and
• Injunction litigation.

She also serves as general corporate counsel to businesses, handling a wide range of business needs, including day-to-day management of corporate matters, contract drafting and review, drafting employment manuals and contracts. Additionally, she handles various disputes and issues within and between corporations and employees, and overseeing litigation nationally. Ms. Barker also consults with individuals and corporate clients regarding employment laws issues, including:

• Preparation and revision of employee handbooks and policies;
• Employee termination and discipline issues;
• Severance agreements;
• Non-compete and confidentiality agreements; and
• Compliance with state and federal law.

Ms. Barker is a member of the Cincinnati Bar Association, the Kentucky Bar Association, the Northern Kentucky Bar Association, the Salmon P. Chase American Inn of Court, where she is a Barrister and serves as Treasurer, and the Kentucky Academy of Trial Attorneys. She has conducted seminars and presentations to various clients in the areas of employment law and sexual harassment, as well as contract law and risk management. Ms. Barker has been recognized as one of Ohio’s Super Lawyers by Law and Politics in conjunction with Cincinnati Magazine.
