Mr. Tafaro practices in the areas of business law, specifically commercial transactions, commercial
litigation, real estate and business consulting.
Mr. Tafaro received his undergraduate degree from Wittenberg University in Springfield, Ohio in
1976. In 1977 he received an M.Ed. with an emphasis in Sports Administration from Ohio
University in Athens, Ohio.
Mr. Tafaro received his J.D. from Salmon P. Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky
University in 1982. He was admitted to the practice of law in Kentucky in 1982 and Ohio in 1983.
Mr. Tafaro’s litigation experience includes representation of plaintiffs in commercial disputes in
federal court in both Ohio and Wisconsin. His commercial transaction work includes representation
of both buyers and sellers in business transactions ranging in size from $100,000 to more than $20
million. Mr. Tafaro has extensive experience in a variety of real estate transactions, including leases,
sales, purchases, condemnation, financing and zoning and variance disputes.
In addition to his legal experience, Mr. Tafaro’s career has included substantial day to day
responsibility for the operation of various businesses including Cincinnati Riverfront Coliseum (a
multi-purpose sports and entertainment facility), Beechmont Optical Retail Stores, NuOptics (an
optical manufacturer and wholesaler), Kleancom, Inc. (commercial cleaning services), Select-A-Seat
(a computerized entertainment ticketing company), and Buddy’s Carpet & Flooring LLC. He is
Trustee of the Cincinnati Bar Association and past chairman of its Sports & Entertainment Law Committee, and an
Adjunct Professor at Ohio University (Athens, OH) and Xavier University (Cincinnati, Ohio) where he teaches various courses in Sports Administration and Sports Marketing.
Mr. Tafaro’s significant business experience is a valuable resource available to other Kohnen &
Patton attorneys to assist them in representing clients on a variety of business issues.
