Mrs. Combs is a partner and member of Kohnen & Patton’s Medical Malpractice/Personal Injury
Practice Group, leading the section on medical malpractice litigation. She was an associate and
partner with the firm from 1982 through 1995; she returned to the firm in 2001. In her 25 years
of practice, she has devoted most of her professional time to medical malpractice and negligence
litigation, having tried many cases to jury verdict and resolved many more without trial. She has
successfully argued before the Supreme Court of Ohio on multiple occasions. Prior to practicing
law, Mrs. Combs was a registered nurse with experience in obstetrics, pediatrics and intensive care,
licensed in Ohio, Texas and Michigan. She sees her nursing background as an invaluable part of her
knowledge base in her practice.
In addition to her litigation practice, Mrs. Combs has been trained as a mediator by the Center
for Dispute Resolution in Washington D.C.; she focuses her mediation practice on personal injury
cases. Mrs. Combs also serves as a volunteer arbitrator for local courts as a part of her alternative
dispute resolution practice.
Mrs. Combs is a fellow of the American Board of Trial Advocates. She has served on numerous
boards and committees for church, school and non profit organizations in her community. She has
been repeatedly recognized as one of Ohio’s Super Lawyers by Law and Politics in conjunction with
Cincinnati Magazine.
